Nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Goshen Scout Reservation is a premier summer camp destination for Scouts and Scouters. Our mission is simple: provide unforgettable outdoor experiences that build character, leadership, and lifelong memories.

All Goshen Scout Reservation camps hold a nationally accredited status from Scouting America. By meeting high standards for health, safety, and program quality, we provide an outdoor classroom where Scouts continue to grow.Through annual reviews of our emergency action plans and strong relationships with local county and state emergency response resources, we’re prepared to provide a safe camping experience for you and your Scouts.
$2025-2026 $1 Million Investment in Goshen Scout Reservation
In September of 2025, Scouting America National Capital Area Council began an initial investment of up to $1,000,000 for priority improvement projects at Goshen Scout Reservation (GSR).
The funding supported:
- Acquisition of new program equipment
- Facility upgrades and hazard mitigation
- Infrastructure updates
- A targeted marketing campaign to raise awareness of GSR’s offerings.
We are pleased to provide the final Project Completion Report that details the enhanced experience delivered during the summer of 2026.
Webelos & AOL Resident Camp: Camp Ross
Gateway to Immersive Experiences
Specifically designed for rising Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts, Camp Ross gives young Scouts the perfect gateway into the excitement and independence of Troop-level adventures. With days filled with waterfront activities, archery, crafts, nature hikes, campfires, and meaningful moments like a Scout’s Own service, Ross creates the kinds of hands-on experiences that build confidence and spark enthusiasm for what comes next in Scouting.
Backed by a dedicated and encouraging staff, Camp Ross offers the structure, support, and early successes that help Scouts strengthen their skills, build resilience, and gain a deeper sense of readiness for Scouts BSA. It’s a place where units see their Scouts become more independent, where meaningful traditions start to take shape, and where memories are made that stay with a Scout long after they move on to their next adventure in Scouting.
Camp Ross is for Everyone
Camp Ross welcomes Packs and Dens of every size. Units enjoy camp most when they attend together as a Den or Pack, but small groups are always welcome. Phoenix Nest campers — one registered adult and up to four youth — are paired with other small groups to form a provisional pack for the week. Together, Phoenix Nest participants camp, eat, and enjoy all program activities as one cohesive group.
Scouts BSA Resident Camps
Programs That Excite and Support Your Whole Unit
- First Year Camper Programs: Each Scouts BSA camp at Goshen supports a First Year Camper program, aimed to help your Scouts transition into a resident camp experience and learn foundational Scout skills. First-year programs give Scouts a broad taste of camp and key skills toward rank advancement.
- Older Scout Programs: Crafted for older Scouts eager to push their limits.
- ATV: Spend the week learning to drive an All-Terrain Vehicle and navigating backcountry trails. (for Scouts ages 14 and up).
- COPE & Climbing: Scale our climbing wall and tackle team-building challenges, including high-ropes elements.
- Osprey: Take adventure to the next level! This week-long program combines COPE challenges, canoeing around Lake Merriweather, metalworking, and an overnight backpacking trek for Scouts ready to explore Goshen like never before.
Camp Olmsted
Guided Growth, Advancement Focused
Camp Olmsted combines the convenience of dining hall service with a wide variety of traditional Scouting programs. Ideal for units that prefer structured meals and a central camp atmosphere, Camp Olmsted is tailored for units focused on rank advancement and easing new Scouts into resident camp life. Our Tech Center allows Scouts to take merit badges not often seen in an outdoor summer camp setting, including robotics and programming.
Camp Marriott
Versatile Programs, Personal Adventure
Camp Marriott offers heater stack and patrol cooking options for dining, and attracts Troops seeking specialty electives or opportunities to retain older Scouts. A wide variety of flexible and engaging programs include advanced aquatics and technical merit badges. Camp Marriott hosts a specialty program area, The Guild, featuring trade skill merit badges such as metalworking and automotive maintenance.
Camp Bowman
Rugged Skills, Lasting Leadership
Camp Bowman emphasizes teamwork and outdoor skills through its patrol cooking program. Scouts enjoy traditional campsites and hands-on merit badge opportunities. Camp Bowman’s troop-based experience centers on field leadership and provides the setting for immersive, hands-on development. Units that cook, plan, and compete as patrols find strengthened unit cohesion and success through memorable leadership challenges. Troop-level rotations and clear patrol responsibilities maximize the experience.

Lenhok’sin High Adventure
Goshen Scout Reservation’s ultimate backcountry experience offers challenging backpacking and canoeing treks in the genuinely rugged conditions of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Lenhok’sin is an opportunity for challenge, excitement, and growth for all Scouts, and helps prepare those for future national High Adventure experiences.
Lenhok’sin Backpacking Trek
Embark on a week-long backcountry backpacking adventure through Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. With a “plan your own adventure” structure, crews tailor the route, distance, and difficulty of their trek to fit their experience level and goals.
Along the trail, visit staffed outposts offering high-adventure activities including blacksmithing, black powder rifle shooting, caving, tomahawk throwing, and more. Camp nightly in trail camps across varied terrain as your crew builds real backcountry skills, confidence, and teamwork on a fully customizable trek.
Lenhok’sin James River Canoe Trek
Paddle down one of Virginia’s most scenic rivers, the upper James River Water Trail,
on week-long white water canoeing trek. Spanning 63 miles from Iron Gate to Snowden Dam, navigate over 100 Class I rapids and 20 challenging Class II rapids, including the infamous Balcony Falls. While on the river, you’ll have the opportunity to whitewater kayak on final day of your trek.
Bring your fishing pole and pick up dinner along the way. Camp nightly at established riverside campgrounds and add an optional river cleanup project to work towards the Scouting America 50 Miler Award.

Adventure has a home in Haymarket, Virginia!
Located in Prince William County Virginia, Camp William B. Snyder encompasses 350 acres including a managed wetland and managed prairie with program areas for nature walks, fishing and boating, Range & Target Activities, woodworking, STEM, and a water slide pool. Facilities include a climate-controlled dining hall, cabins, training center, and 14 group campsites. Camp William B. Snyder is a premier camping location within Scouting America National Capital Area Council which is open year-round. Our camp has welcomed Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, and community organizations since 2006.
