Calling all parents, leaders, and amazing community members!
Scouting America National Capital Area Council (NCAC) is recruiting additional volunteers to help with our programs. No matter your skills or interests, we need your help! Scouting volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences representing every occupation imaginable. The primary criteria is an interest in leading young people to become responsible, caring, competent citizens.
Why? By volunteering with NCAC you will work to build a better future for our youth and also for our country.
- Volunteering also gives you an opportunity to develop new skills and build lifelong friendships while giving back to your community.
- NCAC offers a strong training program to prepare volunteers to be successful in their roles. That’s why 96% of volunteers say they would recommend volunteering to other adults.
- In fact, volunteers believe their time invested with Scouting America helps them be a better citizen, better parent, better leader, and a better team member.
Some opportunities to give back to our community:
- District and nominating committees for all counties/cities across the region
- Camp facility improvement
- STEM programming
- Unit leadership
- Merit badge counseling – Instructions on how to apply

Local Units
Local units (Packs, Troops, Crews, Ships, and Posts) are always looking for responsible and mature individuals who would like to help out as leaders. You could join a unit committee or become an assistant leader in the unit. To find a local unit use our unit search tool.
District and Council Level
The programs and services provided by the Council would never happen without the dedication of the volunteers on numerous committees. Some of our most active include Camping, Membership Recruitment and Retention, Marketing, Property Management, Health and Risk Management, Advancement, Training and Education, and Event Planning.
District committee meeting dates can be found on our NCAC calendar here: https://ncacscouting.org/calendar/ and a map of the locations of our Districts is featured below.
If you are interested in joining our Council and have skills that can contribute to one of our committees, contact us at info@ncacbsa.org or 301-214-9106 to learn how you can help make a difference in a young person’s life and in our community.
